Last week we shared an article on how Gartner research company was in doubt about WP7 being successful overall. Sadly, they aren’t the only ones. Recently one of PCMag’s reporters found time and a place to ask Andy Rubin, the leader of the Android Project and Vice President of engineering at Google, several questions pertaining to his opinions of the new WP7 platform and Androids as well.
Reviewing the interview comments, it seems that Rubin is a little worried about WP7 succeeding in the current phone industry, which is for the most part dominated by Android already. He states that he is very satisfied with the current flow and production of the Android platform. The many software versions available and updated releases keep consumers understanding and appreciating the main differences between each new release even more.
As far as Rubin’s opinion on WP7, with Android being so successful he is not sure that the world will even need another platform, especially if there aren’t major differences that this device can do compared to Android devices. He does however think it’s great for consumers to be able to have a selection of platforms to chose from.
If WP7 would target the devices performance at things other devices don’t do, maybe Rubin’s & consumers’ opinions would be different. What do you think? Will WP7 be successful?
