iPhone 4 and 3GS still Top Selling Phones in the U.S.

MacRumors has an article showing that Apple still leads the pack in smart phone sales.  In Q2 – 2011, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS outsold all Android and other phones.

Although Android commands 52% market share of phones in America, crowds still flock to the iPhone.  The article lists the top 5 selling phones in Q2.

“Here are the top five best-selling phones during Q2, via NPD’s Mobile Phone Track service:

1. Apple iPhone 4
2. Apple iPhone 3GS
3. HTC EVO 4G
4. HTC Inspire 4G
5. Samsung INTENSITYII “

The interesting thing is that the iPhone 4 came out 14 months ago, while the 3GS came out 26 months ago, and they are still out-selling Android, WP7, and RIM devices.  RIM is expectedly still plummeting, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go the way of WebOS soon.

With the iPhone 5 rumors come out seemingly every week, interest in the world’s most valuable company continues to rise.  Remember earlier this year the first CDMA iPhone was released, as well as the introduction of the white iPhone 4.

While some may bash the iPhone, consumer interest continues to peak.  The iPhone has a lot of momentum and is known for its superior stability, non-fragmented OS, battery life, speed (with lesser hardware), and the fact that they are much more secure than Android (seems like every few days we here about some new Android malware unleashed on unsuspecting users).

It’s hard to believe that a device running a 600mhz processor, 256mb RAM, 3.5″ touch screen with no front facing camera and who’s OS development has ended still outsells devices such more powerful hardware and more features.
