With Android 2.2 coming out to devices, Windows Phone 7 coming out later this year, iOS4 released, and a WebOS 2.0 around the corner, its time for Blackberry to reveal its next version of its OS, OS6. While there will be new devices coming out that come loaded with the OS, RIM has confirmed it plans on upgrades for the Bold 9700, Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G (sadly no word on the Storm or Storm 2). The most they said is that it will be in the coming months pending carrier certification and further testing.
“BlackBerry 6 includes a new, WebKit based browser, a Universal Search tool that delves through not only local but internet and BlackBerry World content, and and new Social Feeds app which pulls together BlackBerry Messaging, Facebook, Twitter and various IM services. There’s also a new UI, complete with a customizable homescreen, new gesture support and a special “Action Menu” contextual system for further options.”
