Its been a while since we’ve had any Windows Mobile/Windows Phone 7 news, but we finally have some today. This morning, Microsoft COO, Kevin Turner, officially announced that Windows Phone 7 will land in Europe in October and will be in the US in November.
We already knew Microsoft was planning on releasing it in time for the holiday season, and with a November launch, you can’t cut it much closer. There’s still no specific date for the launch, and there’s no information as to which carrier(s) will get the first phones retail.
PPCGeeks started off as a Windows Mobile-only site for its first few years, and as Android started to trickle its way into the CDMA world, we’ve grown to adopt it along with Blackberry and other platforms. While we’re still mostly Windows Mobile users, there’s been an obvious shift over to Android, specifically the Evo. There’s no telling if Windows Phone 7 will win back any of those Android converts or not, only time will tell. Many believe this is it for Microsoft, a crucial turning point. They’ll either succeed or fail because they’re going up against Android and Blackberry (and of course the iPhone).
