Rumor: Verizon Wireless Launching LTE Nov. 15th

With the recent rumor of the iPhone coming to Verizon in January, we have another one for you. This time, BGR has an anonymous tipster that says Verizon is set to launch LTE on November 15th in 25 markets and LTE-compatible handsets will go on sale Black Friday. The 25 markets will supposedly cover 100 million subscribers.

The timing of some of these rumors seems a little odd to us. Considering the Motorola Droid has been their hottest smartphone and the Droid X and Droid 2 getting closer to launch, how many people would upgrade to those devices if they’re not LTE-compatible? The Droid X is set to be released on July 25th and there’s no rumor on the Droid 2 yet. With the iPhone rumored to arrive in January, will it be LTE-compatible?

We also know that Verizon has confirmed that they will launch five LTE handsets by May 2011.

So for our Verizon users out there, will you upgrade to a Droid X or Droid 2 if they’re not 4G-compatible, or will you wait to see what Verizon comes out with?
