I have been considering getting T-Mobile since it appears that they will be getting the HD2. Fortunately for Sprint, T-Mobile went ahead and had a nationwide outage. Signal is down all over the place (voice AND data).
Not to worry, T-Mobile has issued the following statement:
“T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available.”
Ah, now it’s good. First you lost some sidekick data, now service is down. What good is my HD2 if I can’t make a call or browse the web?
Update 11/4/09: T-Mobile posted after midnight last night that the issue was resolved and claimed that it only affected 5% of its user base, which is still about 1.7 million people.
11/4/09 – Official Statement: “On Tuesday, some T-Mobile customers may have experienced service disruptions impacting voice and messaging services. We restored full service to all affected customers later in the day. After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network. T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future. We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced.”
