Yesterday you may have heard about a new Android keyboard, the 8pen. Some were thinking it was a few more weeks away when SURPRISE, it’s here now. 8pen is available now for you to download in the Android market. Keep in mind you must be on an Android 1.6 or higher for the keyboard to work with your phone. Wow, how many more keyboard options do we need to chose from? Maybe this keyboard will be awesome enough to replace all of the other available options, only time and hardcore testing will tell.
The 8pen was invented in hopes of being able to write on small devices, in a fast, natural and more convenient way. The 8pen allows for the replacement of the conventional keyboard on all devices capable of detecting gestures that will support this keyboard. Its advantage lies mainly in the fact that it is possible to input text faster than using conventional layouts on small devices, while at the same time mimicking human hand-writing. Moreover, the simplicity of the gestures involved greatly reduces the problem of mistyping that frequently occurs with the classical layout due to the lack of space. For the same reason, it is possible to write without viewing, as only the central region is needed as a reference for starting and ending a movement. Confusing? Wait until you see the video below and maybe it will be more interesting to you.
Now that you have watched the video you should understand how this keyboard works a little bit better. If not, don’t panic because there are more instructions to follow. Click here to be taken to the 8pen website and you will find exactly how it works including basic movements, special and uppercase characters as well as how to do gestures. Once you download it, use it and get an opinion on how it works, let us know your thoughts. We would love to know what you think about this new keyboard.
